Paul’s first television role was in EMERGENCY WARD 10, playing Mr Verity. This was followed by appearances in such series as THE SAINT, Z CARS, MURDER MUST ADVERTISE and THE LEGEND OF ROBIN HOOD.

In 1978, he took on the role for which he is probably best known – that of Kerr Avon in the cult BBC sci-fi series BLAKE’S 7. Since then, he has appeared in numerous TV dramas, including DOMBEY & SON and DOCTOR WHO.

On film, he has been seen in DIE ANOTHER DAY, while on stage he has appeared in roles as diverse as Elvis and Macbeth.

He has also published three books: Avon: A Terrible Aspect (1989), The Novel of Queen: The Eye (1997) and his autobiography, You’re Him, Aren’t You? (2006).
